AEV’s Rear Differential Skid Plate (aka: Differential Slider) is standard equipment on the 2019+ Colorado ZR2 Bison and is now also available to non-Bison owners! This Hot Stamped Boron Steel skid plate is designed to help you slide over obstacles, instead of having them stop you dead in your tracks. Situations like this can potentially causing damage to your differential housing or pinion, leave your vehicle disabled in the middle of nowhere. While the Rear Differential Skid Plate is standard equipment on the ZR2 Bison, it was designed for the Dana M220 rear axle found in most 2015+ Chevy Colorado trucks, including ZR2 and Z71 trim levels. The Hot Stamped Boron Steel construction means that this skid plate is not only super lightweight but also incredibly strong. Complete with hardware, the Colorado Rear Differential Skid Plate only weighs 9lbs versus 20lbs, like our traditionally manufactured JK Differential Slider. E-coated for maximum corrosion resistance and is proudly made in the USA. Hot Stamped Boron Steel (HSBS) is an ultra-high strength, press hardened steel and is most commonly used in automotive applications for passenger impact protection because it is lightweight with an extremely high yield strength (approximately 200,000 ksi vs. mild steel at 25,000 ksi). AEV chose this material for the Colorado ZR2 Bison’s skid plate package not just because of its high strength-to-weight ratio but also for its hardness and resistance to gouging.
